Russia invites Japan to conclude a full-fledged peace treaty - Lavrov
Russia offers Japan to conclude a peace treaty, but there is no answer from Tokyo. This was announced on July 10 by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. We proposed the conceptual foundations of such a treaty while our Japanese colleagues do not respond to such a concept, said the Russian Foreign Minister at the Primakov Readings Forum, which takes place online. According to Lavrov, the future agreement of the countries should be modern and full-fledged. According to the news agency, earlier Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe emphasized that the Japanese authorities are consistently implementing the agreements they reached with Russian leader Vladimir Putin and will seek to resolve the territorial issue and sign a peace treaty with Russia. Abe promised to speed up negotiations on the basis of the 1956 Joint Declaration. Note that Japan claims four islands of the Kuril ridge Iturup, Shikotan, Kunashir and Habomai. The position of Russia of the island is an integral part of Russia following the results of World War II.
