Political scientist spoke about Zelensky's conflict with the Servant of the People faction

In recent days, the office of the President of Ukraine has been actively disseminating information that Zelensky will dissolve the parliament of this convocation in the fall, Ukrainian political analyst Viktor Taran said on June 23, citing his sources. However, the expert believes that this is only intimidation and such a scenario is unlikely in reality. Firstly, after re-election, judging by today's ratings, he will receive a faction of approximately 150,160 deputies (now about 245 with a formal majority of 226 parliamentarians). Secondly, there is a risk that Zelensky will personally control a little more than half of the newly elected deputies. So, the problem of the unmanageability of the faction remains Thirdly, the president will lose not only a single majority, but at least one of the two positions of speaker or prime minister, because he will have to form a coalition, the expert explained. Taran believes that the president's office is engaged in intimidation and tightening the discipline of the faction amid the unexpected failure of deputies to vote for the program of activities of the Cabinet of Ministers Denis Shmygal. However, he suggests that such intimidation will no longer work. During these nine months, deputies have already learned a lot to understand the political situation and are no longer afraid of the president's office. And Zelensky has not yet learned to negotiate with them, Taran concluded. the news agency recalls that on May 20, at a press conference, President Zelensky allowed the possibility of dissolving the current composition of the Rada, saying that he would do this if he saw that the deputies voted exclusively in the interests of oligarchic groups.
