ECHR: France did not violate the rights of five terrorists, depriving them of citizenship
The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) calculated on Thursday, June 25, that France did not violate the fundamental rights of five people convicted in the terrorism case when it deprived them of their citizenship eight years after the verdict, reports Le Figaro. The ECHR noted that the loss of citizenship did not make convicted persons stateless, since all five have another citizenship. Recall that in France, five people were sentenced in 2007 to six to eight years in prison for participating in a criminal community to prepare a terrorist act. In particular, they were tried for communication with the Moroccan combat group responsible for the terrorist attack in Casablanca (Morocco) on May 16, 2003: 45 people died, including three French citizens.
