Iranian official urges EU not to miss chance of cooperation with Iran

On July 2, Special Assistant to the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Hossein Amir Abdollahyan, announced that the state would leave sanctions behind, while the European Union should not miss the opportunity for economic cooperation with the Islamic Republic. This was reported by the Iranian agency IRNA on July 3. At a meeting with Italian Ambassador to Iran Giuseppe Perrone, the Iranian representative touched upon the historical and cultural ties between the two countries, saying that the Iranian parliament welcomes the intensification of inter-parliamentary relations with the Italian Republic. According to him, inter-parliamentary relations have always played a decisive role in strengthening mutual cooperation. Describing the strengthening of US sanctions against Iran as failed economic terrorism, Amir Abdollahyan noted: No doubt, we will overcome the new sanctions by force and relying on the enormous opportunities of the country and the great people of Iran, while the EU must find ways not to miss the opportunity of active economic cooperation with Iran. Unfortunately, the fear of European countries about US policy has led to the loss of huge opportunities for economic cooperation with Iran, he said. The Ambassador of Italy, in turn, said that the State was determined to maintain consistent, historical and deep-rooted relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
