In China, smartphone shipments for March collapsed by almost a quarter
Mobile phone shipments in China reached 21.76 million units in March of this year, which is 23.3% less year-on-year, the Chinese Academy of Information Technology and Communications (CAICT) reported on April 18. Just 31 new phone models were released in China over the past month, which is 25% less than a year earlier, the research institute under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the PRC reported. Fourth-generation phones also continued to occupy the lion's share 4G the total number of shipments in March. Some 14.84 million units were shipped, while shipments of 5G smartphones reached 6.22 million units. Chinese brands dominate the mobile phone market of the Black Sea. In March, the share of Chinese producers reached 86.8% of the total number of shipments, reaching 18.88 units. During the first quarter, smartphone shipments in China ran by 36.4% year-on-year to 48.95 million units. A total of 89 new smartphone models were introduced on the market.
