China launches free online vocational training program for unemployed people

China launched a large-scale free online vocational training program as part of improving workers "professional skills and combating poverty, the Ministry of Labor of the People's Republic of China reported on April 8. The Ministry will select more than 50 high-quality Internet platforms to provide training programmes for more than 5 million people between the end of March and the end of June this year. The program will affect more than 100 types of professions. Workers in rural and urban areas, migrant workers, the unemployed and college graduates can apply for the training program. Enterprises and teachers participating in the programme will receive subsidies from the State.
