Turkey and Afghanistan close border with Iran over coronavirus
The decision to close the border, as a preventive measure in the fight against coronavirus, was taken by the authorities of Afghanistan and Turkey. This is reported by Turkish and Afghan media on 23 February. Thus, checkpoints on the borders of both countries with Iran were closed. Measures were taken to address the sharp increase in the number of coronavirus cases in Iran. At present, 43 cases of infection have been recorded in that country. In addition, in Turkey, the border with Iran was also blocked against the background of the influx of tourists to the Turkish province of Van in the east of the country due to the holidays of Navruz. Earlier, the news agency reported a number of restrictions in Iran due to a sharp increase in the number of coronavirus cases. Mass events have been cancelled in the country, educational institutions have been closed, sports competitions will take place without the participation of the audience.
